Kita Beauty Lounge launched in 2021 in Belleville, Ontario. Located in a re-imagined historic building in the downtown area, the two-storey space is dedicated to a wide range of salon and spa services. Co-founders Kailey and Denim have backgrounds in Medical Cosmetics and Holistic Beauty (respectively). Their combined knowledge of these industries allow them to offer their clients a unique approach to all concepts of beauty.
The development of the physical location was well underway when the co-founders of Kita sourced Early Riser, wanting a website launch to coincide with the opening of the spa. The functionality of the website had a unique use case: combining both a service based and product based business.
The website needed to properly educate clients and book services in the physical location, while also selling a variety of products, with the possibility to expand their catalogue in the future. Kita also wanted the ability to expand their reach geographically by selling products online to clients who wouldn’t physically visit the spa.
For typical service-based businesses, we would usually recommend a platform such a Webflow or Squarespace. However, to properly address the e-commerce goals for Kita’s website - including expanding their reach, growing a product catalogue, and having options for in-store selling - we decided that Shopify would be a more scalable long-term solution.
We chose a Shopify OS 2.0 theme, which allowed us to create a variety of unique landing pages to educate clients on services, and tell a visual story about the brand. We created a seamless cross-promotion between services and products, housing the services and products both in matching menu items and throughout the site. Finally, we linked to the company’s booking site, and created easy access to the spa’s policies and contact information.
